You can use fresh turmeric or dried turmeric; if using fresh turmeric, you will want to use a ½ – 1” piece. Pairing the turmeric with black pepper improves the absorption of the curcumin in the turmeric, which is the anti-inflammatory compound toted to help with inflammation. You can add a little bit of vanilla protein powder for adults to start the day, if desired!

1 cup frozen mango
1 frozen banana
1 carrot, peeled and cut into chunks
1 orange, peeled
1 cup milk of choice
½ inch piece peeled ginger root
¼ teaspoon turmeric
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons hemp hearts
Pinch of black pepper
