Ontario Makes Celiac Blood Test Permanent

Big news for our community!

After years of advocacy by Celiac Canada and a successful multi-year pilot, the Ontario Minister of Health has approved making the celiac blood test a permanent part of OHIP coverage. This means the test can now be ordered in primary care settings without barriers.

This is a huge win for the tens of thousands of Ontarians still awaiting a diagnosis.

Best of all, this decision helps secure pan-Canadian coverage for celiac disease blood testing—removing a major barrier to timely diagnosis.

👉 Stay tuned as we continue working to ensure every Canadian with celiac disease gets the support they need.
