Our Strategic Priorities
Celiac Canada, along with our Board of Directors, launched a new three-year strategic plan for 2025 -2027. We are confident that this plan, and strong collaboration with our partners and the celiac community in Canada and across the globe, sets us on the right path toward achieving our vision of a world without celiac disease.
Healthy, Vibrant Organization
- Ensure the organization has the resources, both people and finances, to continue to be a leader in finding, treating, and eventually curing those in Canada with celiac disease.
- Create a strong network of partners across Canada, with a goal to have a presence in each province or major region.
Find
- Improve diagnostic rates through awareness and education.
- Lead a national dialogue with key stakeholders and government to help close the 10-year diagnosis gap.
- Engage with health care professionals to promote screening and best practices.
Treat
- Develop and enhance current programs so that people with celiac disease have a sense of empowerment in managing their diet and mental health.
- Engage with/support health care institutions and practitioners to improve patient care and reduce complications.
- Monitor and respond to legislation and regulations related to celiac disease and gluten-free food.
- Advocate for a simple, refundable tax credit to help relieve the burden of a gluten-free diet; advocate for a comprehensive guidance document on the use of “May Contains” statements.
Cure
- Identify prospective partnerships that could yield significant value to curing celiac.
- Encourage more researchers to enter the field of celiac disease.
- Monitor and translate the latest research advancements for our community.
- Explore opportunities to have Canadians participate in clinical trials to advance towards a cure.
Together with our donor community and supporters, we will help empower all Canadians with celiac disease and gluten disorders to live their best lives.
